Cross Border Links add an International Dimension

At Garvagh Museum we have links with a similar venture in Sligo. A number of exchange visits and joint projects have taken place with Sligo Folk Park. This has added an international dimension to Garvagh Museum's collection and facilitated the sharing of common cultural values.

Initially a meeting in Garvagh enabled links and cultures to be explored using artefacts from both areas. A reciprocal visit took place when a representative group from Garvagh Museum travelled to Sligo for the official opening of the Sligo Folk Park. They were welcomed by the organisers and had a very memorable exchange of ideas. Mrs Mary McAleese, President of the Republic of Ireland, performed the opening ceremony.
